My creatures express an admiration…
My creatures express an admiration for physical beings in all their splendid diversity and potentiality. They were born from my encounter with clay. Finding traditional ceramics unwieldy, I started experimenting with paper clay. I discovered that it happily combined with paint, cloth, beads and buttons, antique doll parts, and other findings.
On display here are some old favorites from my personal collection as well as some very recent works. Along with the mixed media creatures I’ve included a couple of fired ceramic pieces, little shrines (nichos, in the Mexican tradition), and miniature paperclay figurines.
