My art is “visionary” or “outsider” in the sense that its subjects arise from within, representing a “third eye” view. But it also exhibits the strong influence of major artists: familiar subjects, treatments, techniques of composition, and symbolic content. In that sense, I’m not self-taught–I’ve learned from all the paintings I’ve ever looked at.
The larger works are acrylic on canvas, but recently I’ve used gouache for smaller pieces. I’ve also combined acrylic with collage.
